Happy Book Birthday, Child of the Flower-Song People!

She was Luz Jiménez,

child of the flower-song people,

the powerful Aztecs,

who called themselves Nahua—

who lost their land, but who did not disappear.

CHILD OF THE FLOWER-SONG PEOPLE: LUZ JIMÉNEZ, DAUGHTER OF THE NAHUA, the debut picture book of Gloria Amescua, illustrated by Duncan Tonatiuh (Abrams), tells the story of how Luz Jiménez breathed life into her ancestors’ past and, in so doing, carried the voice of the Nahua people into the future.

Gorgeous and galvanic, CHILD OF THE FLOWER-SONG PEOPLE is a tale about the inspired child who became the woman who stepped into the honor and responsibility of preserving history. Gloria’s striking book sparkles onto shelves… today!
