Cover Reveal: Secret, Secret Agent Guy

We have a top-secret cover to share…. are you ready?

Brace yourselves, because PB Debut Troupe 21 is about to reveal something so charming, so gosh-darn darling, you may not be able to keep it under wraps.

(We’re kind of banking on that, actually.)

Today, the Troupe is leaking the cover of SECRET, SECRET AGENT GUY (Atheneum), which publishes May 11, 2021. Sneaky as it is sweet, this hot-off-the-presses cover shows just how sly an agent needs to be to sleuth in jammies undetected.

So grab your spy glass and take a nice, long look at the cover of SECRET, SECRET AGENT GUY, the debut picture book of Troupe member Kira Bigwood, illustrated by Celia Krampien.

Here it is!

SECRET, SECRET AGENT GUY is a lullaby for little spies, set to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. Your mission—should you choose to accept it—is to join our 007-year-old on his bedtime assignment: Operation Lollipop. Equipped with night-vision goggles, a jetpack and grappling hook, he is prepared for every possible scenario…or is he? Will he complete his covert crusade, or will he be outsmarted by an adversary he never saw coming?

This is a story of mystery, intrigue and homespun bedtime fun, and I love how illustrator Celia Krampien was able to weave it all together into one delightful image. How could a kid see this cover, and not want in on the action? The drama of the spotlight, the mischievous look in Secret Agent Guy’s eyes, and don’t even get me started on Celia’s color palette and super cool title treatment…can’t you just hear that second “secret” as a whisper?

I’m extremely grateful to Celia, Designer Lauren Rille and Editor Alex Borbolla, for working hard to make sure the cover captures the playful spirit of our story. I just can’t wait for young readers to open our book—adventure awaits, and so do some sneaky surprises!

This message will self-destruct in 3…2…1…
